From video art to multimedia theatre, from electronic music to performance art, from net.art to photography, there are few areas of contemporary art that have not been explored and ironically subverted by the tentacular operations of CONIGLIOVIOLA: “Renaissance workshop of the digital era” and genuine “brand”.

Well-known for spectacular operations such as the Pirate Attack on the Biennale di Venezia (2007), CONIGLIOVIOLA is devoted to a radical and cross research into POP-ular culture, and especially into those shared cultural myths and clichés through which society represents and hide itself.  Multilinguism derives from a reflection on the digital medium intended as a meta-language. This allows CONIGLIOVIOLA to elaborate a project and then to articulate it into all possible art forms. As a result, and the use of different media notwithstanding, all projects are strictly linked one to the other. CONIGLIOVIOLA uses the intrinsic characteristic of digital medium – “fluidity” (Lev Manovich) – to liquefy the borderline between artistic genres and merge consolidated forms, styles and techniques. The digital revolution is therefore interpreted like an instrument in order to reestablish a Renaissance-like vision of the artist (capable of a complete, well rounded expression) and, at the same time, as an overcoming of the specialized vision of the individual, which is a heritage of the age of the Industrial revolution.

 

In GendErotica they are going to present an extract from their last studio album. Recuperate Le Vostre Radici Quadrate gathers a selection of successess from the “most ferocious italian divas of the 80's” re-interpreted with electronic music and accompanied by as many videos. The album counts 15 tracks. To the cover of Alice, Marcella Bella, Fiorella Mannoia,  Giuni Russo, Lio, Viola Valentino, Rettore, Diana Est, Milva, Loredana Bertè, Mia Martini and Patty Pravo, are added the  bonus tracks taken from the EP Nostalgia Coniglia:  Felicità and Ci sarà, originally by Al Bano & Romina, covered by the  Coniglioviola duo.

The original songs will be often reinvented completely. Deconstructed in the arrengements and in the interpretation, the songs will be heavier: resting on definite sound structures, full of musical quotations, acid and modern sounds. They follow the original meaning of the lyrics, which in the 80's where dressed in harmonic and harmless guises by giving them back their original meaning, stripped of their hedonistic exterior and adapted to a modern context.
